Adult BJJ Class

The BJJ class for adults is a comprehensive structured class. Any student can join the class, whether he or she has a previous back ground in BJJ, or totally new to the experience.

The class covers self-defense, throws, take downs, and ground grappling.

The class cycles through the different positions that are used in BJJ, and in each section of the cycle the student concentrates on submissions, escapes and position maintenance for that particular position. Over a period of time the student will become familiar with the basics of BJJ and be able to apply them in a grappling scenario.

As the student progresses, he or she will be taught more advanced techniques beyond the scope of the basics, which will give you choices and options that evolve off the basic techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: I am new to this and am not in very good shape, should I get in shape first?
Answer: No, the warm ups and drills you will do at the beginning of the class will gradually get you into shape, you just need to work at your own pace and determine what you can do and what you cannot.

Question: What type of gear do I need for this class?
Answer: The only thing you really need for this class is a GI (uniform), mouth piece and a cup (if you are a male). The school can assist you in getting a uniform.

Question: Will I learn self-defense that will help me in a street altercation?
Answer: This class will cover self-defense, but bear in mind that BJJ with a GI, like the MMA class, is more tournament oriented! And rules are applied to tournaments, in the street there are no rules.

Question: How do I know this class is right for me, can I come down and watch?
Answer: Yes you can come down and watch, in fact I suggest you sit in one a class, but watch all the different classes that are offered at the school first and see which class you want, then sit in on the class, because you are only allowed one free class.
